Bridgeport school honors US airman, former student killed in Idaho car crash

School children in Bridgeport Friday honored the life of U.S. airman and former student who was killed in a car crash in Idaho.
Curiale School in the city’s West End dedicated its annual Valentines for Vets program to Lawrence Manlapi.
Manlapi was killed along with two other servicemen and a civilian in a multivehicle crash near an Air Force Base in Idaho back in June. He was 29 years old.
School officials say they will collect valentine cards made by fourth district children in Bridgeport to deliver to veterans at the local VA hospital, Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport and other service organizations.
Manlapi's family says their son was a former student at the school and so was his mother.
The event was sponsored by Congressman Jim Himes.
