Kolbe Cathedral High School hosted what would have been a 10th birthday party for Principal Henry Rondon’s daughter, Leah, who was killed in a car crash four years ago.
Rondon, along with his wife Colleen, say 6-year-old Leah was the center of their universe.
Leah was hit by a car and killed while playing at a friend's house in Ansonia in August of 2015.
"It is the worst thing you can possibly imagine and…it still hurts,” says Colleen. “I can relive that day in a heartbeat."
Principal Rondon says they had to find a way to cope and had to “be very careful” that the incident didn’t consume their lives.
But the gymnasium at Kolbe Cathedral was filled with hope, and balloons Saturday for the birthday bash that raises money in Leah’s name.
