The New Canaan Police Department and the New Canaan Fire Department went head-to-head in a fitness competition Saturday, all for a good cause.
The first responders competed in 11 drills at Combine-X Fitness that put their bodies and reputations to the ultimate test.
New Canaan police won, and raised about $5,000. Organizers say 100 percent of the proceeds from the event went towards the GallantFew – a support network for troops as they return to civilian life.
The cause is very close to the heart of Combine-X Fitness owner Rebecca Kimball.
“I have a ton of military friends. So I love them tremendously and I want to make sure they're fully supported in every way possible," she says.
Kimball and the first responders plan to make this an annual, ever-growing event.
