Housatonic Community College Friday held a tech seminar exclusively for women.
The event was held in the college's advanced manufacturing center.
High school 10-grade girls got hands-on experience performing tasks in the trades of advanced manufacturing and technology.
Program Director Joe Duhaime says he wants to show his students that they all have the skill set required for industry demands.
"People don't realize the industry has grown and it's completely computerized and automated. It has every function of the technology that's out there and it's continually growing and changing every day."
HCC officials say they have a 100 percent success rate in job placement.
With 12,000 unfilled jobs in Connecticut, the program is calling for young women to come and enroll.
