ROCKY HILL -

A gas tanker fire shut down a major roadway in Rocky Hill Sunday.

The fire occurred around 6 a.m. on I-91 near exit 24.

The fire was so large that both sides of the highway had to be shut down for several hours.

Nearby residents evacuated because of the heavy fire and smoke.

Troopers say there were no injuries.
