How many is too many? Debate about towels blows up the internet
It seems like an innocuous question: “What is the correct amount of towels to own?”
But the answer to that question sparked a debate that trended on social media.
Twitter user Abdul Dremali (@Advil) posted the question online after discussing it with his girlfriend.
“I said 10 and she looked at me like I was crazy,” Dremali wrote.
Over 2,000 people responded to the tweet, and the “Great Towel Debate” began. Answers ranged from four to six and even 10 to 50.
News 12 New Jersey asked some Garden State residents where they stood on towel numbers.
“More is better, without being hoarder excessive,” said Ellie Drabins, of Edison. “You gotta have your hand towel, your body towel and then facial cloth. You can’t be mixing them all together.
“I have a closet full of towels,” said Lenny Bembry, of Hillside. “I don’t know how many, but the closet’s full.”
Some said that too many towels can be bothersome.
“Do you ever really use 50 towels?” asked Suzzane Branster, of Edison. “And then if you do use all 50 towels, do you have to wash all 50 towels?”
According to the Bed Bath & Beyond wedding registry website, couples should have six towels in the master bedroom and four towels in the guest bathroom.
