New Milford police are investigating an accident that killed a 60-year-old man as he walked along the town's main road.

Police say John Murphy, of New Milford, was near the Citgo station at 61 Danbury Road when he was hit by a car at 9:30 p.m. on Thursday. The driver, Kevin Roman, 20, of New Milford, remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, the authorities say.

There are no crosswalks or sidewalks in the immediate area.
