A rally was held Sunday morning to call for change in the wake of the horrific limousine crash on the East End that killed four young women nearly four years ago.
The rally in Smithtown was organized by the families of the women who died in the 2015 Cutchogue limo crash. They are calling for strict limo safety rules to be included in this year's state budget, including a law that would make it illegal for limos to make U-turns.
The bill lawmakers are considering would also classify limos as buses and require limo drivers to have a commercial driver's license.
As News 12 has reported, investigators say the limo in the 2015 crash made a U-turn and was hit by an oncoming driver. Four women were killed and four others were injured.
The rally was held on LABS Lane, which is named in honor of the Cutchogue crash victims.
Lawmakers are considering these measures that were included in Gov. Andrew Cuomo's budget. The budget is due next Monday.
