Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade draws hundreds in Bay Ridge
St. Patrick's Day is behind us, but Irish eyes were still smiling Sunday at the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in Bay Ridge.
Hundreds of people gathered along Third Avenue to celebrate Irish heritage. Marching bands, floats and dancers made their way down the route.
Now in its 26th year, organizers say it's become a neighborhood tradition.
The parade this year honored Sally Kabel, who passed away at just 6 years old after a battle with leukemia.
"We been to this parade for the past 15 years. This is the sunniest and warmest day we ever had. Our daughter's nickname was Sweet Sally Sunshine and whenever the sun is out, we think of her," says father Matt Kabel.
Sweet Sally Sunshine's many supporters were among those in the crowd.
