Planning board strikes down application to build New Jersey Wawa
The Middletown planning board has struck down an application to build a Wawa in town.
The proposed site is at the former Friendly's restaurant on Route 35.
According to residents who live near the site, the lights from the 24-hour store would be a nuisance, and devalue the neighborhood.
The plans called for a 5,585-square-foot convenience store with six gasoline pumps.
