Milford, Trumbull pass laws raising smoking age

Two more Connecticut towns are joining the list of places in Connecticut where the age to buy cigarettes and other smoking supplies is going up.
Trumbull and Milford have passed new laws raising the age to buy smoking products to 21 years old.
Puff City in Milford offers traditional cigarettes and cigars on the Boston Post Road. The big draw is vape pens and e-cigarettes.
Puff City's owner says while he plans to make sure everyone who works there follows the law, he's not sure it will have the desired impact.
Milford Mayor Ben Blake says it is the right thing to do.
"What was driving this was the inception of vaping, especially in our schools. We heard testimony from students, testimony from our superintendent, our school principals," says Blake.
There have been discussions about raising the age for buying smoking products statewide.
Milford’s new law will go into effect sometime later this month, and will be enforced by the police department.
