BRIDGEPORT -

Security cameras along Wallace Street in Bridgeport caught a man stealing about $3,000 worth of tools from a van parked on the roadway.

The incident occurred around 2:30 a.m.

Bernard Pedro, 32, says he relies on those tools as a carpenter. Pedro and police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the thief.

Pedro described the incident as “very painful” saying that he uses those tools to support his family.

Police say they are on the lookout for the car the thief got away in -- a silver sedan with the right front hubcap missing.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to call 203-576-TIPS.
