Volunteers pick up trash at Cove Island Park

Posted: Updated:
STAMFORD -

At least 100 volunteers gathered at Cove Island Park in Stamford Saturday for a beach cleanup event.

The environmental group SoundWaters organized the cleanup, which focused on picking up all the litter they could find. The group holds several volunteering opportunities each year.

Hilary Starks, of SoundWaters, says volunteering is a great way to give back to the environment and to keep marine life safe and flourishing.

Another cleanup is set for Saturday, May 18 at Boccuzzi Park.
