DOT works to make parts of Hunts Point safer for students, pedestrians

The Department of Transportation is working to make parts of Hunts Point more pedestrian friendly.
The effort is part of a DOT school safety improvement project that includes painted curb extensions near Baretto Street, a slip lane closure on Barry Street, new signalized crossing, concrete pedestrian islands and new crosswalks. Changes are already evident along Lafayette Avenue, from Tiffany Street to Edgewater Road.
Neighborhood residents say they are happy to see the changes.
