Police: Norwalk auto body worker subdues man stealing scrap metal

A Norwalk auto body shop employee stopped a man from stealing scrap metal from the business early Friday morning, police say.
Robert Riebe, of Nowalk, was arrested and is facing several charges including attempted robbery.
The incident happened at Marty's Auto on Cross Street around 3:27 a.m.
Police say the shop employee was asleep in his car in the parking lot when he heard a noise around the fence.
The employee saw Riebe carrying scrap metal and confronted the suspect before a scuffle took place.
Police say the employee was able to subdue Riebe and call police.
Riebe was treated at Norwalk Hospital for injuries he sustained during the altercation.
The worker sustained minor injuries, but declined medical attention.
Riebe faces breach of a peace, criminal mischief, criminal trespass and criminal attempt to commit larceny charges.
