Bridgeport adopts new street cleaning schedule

The city of Bridgeport has adopted a new street sweeping schedule.
Officials say beginning Wednesday street sweeping will happen twice a month and the same day as recycling.
City officials say they hope the blue recycling bins residents put out to the curb will serve as a reminder for them to also move their cars from the streets so that sweepers can clean.
They say street cleaning improves draining around the city.
"When you move your cars and the street sweepers come down what will happen is all the dust and debris will be moved on the way down and keep it from over flooding and raining really bad out there," says Rowena White, director of communications for the city.
White says residents should refer to the city website to check their recycling schedule.
