Stratford-based Sikorsky hosts 8th annual STEM Challenge

Over 100 students from area high schools took part in Sikorsky's eighth annual STEM Challenge.
The students competed at designing a flight control system for a helicopter cockpit of the future.
They also had to demonstrate it in front a group of judges.
Participants were mentored by Sikorsky engineers throughout the year. Organizers say along with STEM, students also learn necessary skills they will use throughout their lives.
The winning team received flight simulation software from Lockheed Martin. The top three teams also advanced to the statewide Student Innovation Expo, which will be held at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in June.
