Memorial service marks 1 year since fatal bus accident in Mt. Olive

A memorial service marking the anniversary of the tragic bus accident that killed a teacher and a student from Paramus was held today.
It was one year ago that fifth-grader Miranda Faith Vargas and school teacher Jennifer Williamson were killed, and 40 others were injured.
The East Brook Middle School students were on a bus headed to a field trip when police say the bus driver, 78-year-old Hudy Muldrow, made an illegal U-turn on Route 80. The bus was then hit by a large dump truck.
About two dozen bus drivers from Mount Olive Township Transportation Department, council members, and first responders were there for the memorial at Turkey Brook Park.
Mount Olive bus drivers raised money and purchased a park bench engraved with a butterfly and ‘Paramus Strong.’
They laid roses down on the bench in memory of those lives lost.
