Collection bins have been deployed in Statford Tuesday for those looking to retired old and faded U.S. flags.
"With the Patriotic Season upon us, it's time to properly retire our faded and worn U.S. flags that have been proudly displayed and are now tattered, faded and no longer serviceable," Laura Hoydick, Stratford mayor, wrote in a Facebook post.
Anyone can drop off a faded or worn flag at one of four locations in Stratford.
Bins will be placed at the town hall, the police department, Birdseye Municipal Complex and the transfer station.
Flags collected from the bins will be retired properly, instead of thrown in the garbage.
The collection is sponsored by Stratford and VFW Post 9460.
