An East Patchogue woman is charged with animal cruelty for allegedly keeping a dog confined to a basement without food or water.
Police say the 6-year-old coonhound, named Daisy, was being kept in a dark basement in a home on Cauncey Drive in feces and urine.
Candace Diperi is charged with animal cruelty for failing to provide proper sustenance, officials say.
Daisy was removed from the home and taken to Brookhaven Animal Shelter.
