Sandy Hook survivor Jordan Gomes is just one of dozens of people pushing for an end to gun violence at this year's Wear Orange Rally in Fairfield.
"Nobody should have to live in fear of stepping out of their homes and having their lives snatched away by a preventable act of senseless violence," says Gomes.
The group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America hosted the event at Sherman Town Green to raise awareness on the issue.
"Between Jan. 1 and March 6 of this year, more Americans were killed by guns then on June 6, 1944 at D-Day. That is too much," says Fairfield First Selectman Mike Tetreau.
Local officials say it's important for the rest of the country to pass gun control laws similar to ones in Connecticut.
