Police: Slain Merrick man stabbed 100 times by man he was dating

Police say they arrested a young man who stabbed a high school teaching assistant he was dating more than 100 times in Merrick.
Police say 21-year-old Ryan Lindquist, of Massapequa, brutally stabbed 32-year-old Evan Grabelsky inside Grabelsky’s home on Elliot Street on June 1.
Authorities say the two men had been in a romantic relationship for about a year.
Detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick says something went horribly wrong on June 1 when Lindquist attacked Grabelsky inside his bedroom.
He says the attack continued throughout the house, including a den, toward the garage and up the stairs.
“It eventually ended on the landing between the two floors...it appears he was trying to get away," says Fitzpatrick.
According to police, the suspect and the victim had known each other for about two years, and they first met using a social media dating app.
Family members for both Lindquist and Grabelsky would not speak to News 12 Saturday after a court appearance.
Lindquist is being held without bail. He is due back in court June 18.
