Suffolk SPCA: Father, son had 18 dogs in deplorable conditions

The Suffolk SPCA says a father and son in Brentwood kept 18 dogs in deplorable conditions.
The Suffolk SPCA was contacted Tuesday by the County Sheriff's Department while at a location for an eviction.
They say they found 18 Shih Tzu and poodle mixes living in feces and urine with no water. The dogs were taken from the home and brought to a shelter in Islip.
Oscar Arias Sr. and Oscar Arias Jr. are both facing animal cruelty charges.
SPCA Chief Roy Gross tells News 12 the duo may have been running a puppy mill.
"We believe these dogs were used for purposes of selling them as a backyard breeder, an illegal breeder," says Gross.
The dogs are under the age of 6 and have been taken to the Islip Animal Shelter, where they will later be put up for adoption.
