Habitat for Humanity helps Bridgeport family become first-time homeowners

A Bridgeport family was gifted with a new home thanks to Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization that helps hardworking families become first-time homeowners.
The family says that accepting the keys to their new home was the proudest day of their lives.
The organization and the family helped build the single-family home on Ogden Street Extension.
"It really provides people who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to own a home to participate with their own efforts, and then to end up with a wonderful dream come true with this house here today,” says Mayor Joe Ganim.
Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County says it has built more than 220 homes for more than 1,000 family members since 1985.
