The victim of Bridgeport's ninth homicide of the year has been identified by his family.
The family spoke with News 12's Mark Sudol but would not speak on camera.
They did confirm that 41-year-old Anthony McKinstry was shot in the head and died early Monday morning.
The family says McKinstry was visiting from North Carolina but is originally from Stamford.
"My prayer for her is, God continue to give her a portion of his strength, because she's going to need it," says April Barron, a friend of McKinstry's mother.
Police say the shooting happened on Bishop Avenue.
Officials are investigating why McKinstry was shot and who shot him.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
