BETHEL -

More than $28,000 has been raised through a crowdfunding campaign for a Bethel family who lost their home and dog in a fire.

The fire broke out Saturday on Country Way around 8 p.m.

The house was destroyed and the family's dog killed.

The family says they have received an outpouring of support by countless people wanting to help.

In just one day, more than $28,000 has been raised.

In addition to a GoFundMe page, a family in town is collecting donations at their home.

When crews got to the scene, they say flames were pouring out of the back and the sides of the home.

Firefighters from neighboring towns were also called in.

The family wasn't home at the time of the fire.
