BRIDGEPORT -

A family is devastated as a 14-year-old boy is on life support after being pulled from the water near Saint Mary's By the Sea.

News 12 met off-camera with relatives of the boy, a student from Cesar Batalla School. They've been at Yale New Haven Hospital, receiving telephone calls and messages of support from friends and family.

One of their visitors today was 65-year-old Samuel Omari Sr., who lost his son in a water accident back in April. Omari says he consoled the family.

"Support and love and condolences to all of them and, I share how they are feeling because I've been through it very recently and it's heart-wrenching and, you know, heartbreaking," says Omari.

Family members told News 12 Connecticut that they appreciate the outpouring of support they're getting from the community.
