New state law aims to make it easier for breast-feeding moms at work

An East End town is taking steps to make it easier for working moms to breastfeed their babies.
Under state law, workplaces are required to offer unpaid breaks and space for breastfeeding employees.
State funding was awarded to Northwell Health to establish more breastfeeding-friendly work spaces for Long Island employees.
At Southampton Town Hall, new mom Jackie Fenlon says she appreciates the opportunity to continue breastfeeding her baby even though she had to return to work.
With help from Northwell Health, the town of Southampton has been able to educate its supervisors about the importance of allowing employees to breastfeed.
The town of Southampton says a formal breastfeeding policy is expected to be adopted at its next meeting on July 23.
