STRATFORD -

Thousands gathered in Stratford for the Blues on the Beach music festival Saturday.

Brave beachgoers who came out in the blistering temperatures were greeted with live music and food trucks at Short Beach.

The Stratford Health Department issued an advisory for the day and the Police Athletic League sold ice bags at the festival.

Officials say those who came out have to remember to stay safe by drinking plenty of fluids.

"For every drink that you have that's alcoholic, you need to hydrate with two bottles of water and stay hydrated," said Stratford Mayor Laura Hoydick.

The Town of Stratford provided mist stations and air-conditioned tents. Extra EMS staff were also on hand to ensure the safety of all citizens.
