Dog abandoned by owner in Norwalk park to be up for adoption
A dog was left tied to a tree in a park over the weekend in Norwalk.
Norwalk Animal Control says a 3-year-old pit bull mix was found at Cranbury Park Saturday, abandoned by its owner and tied to a tree along the walking path.
The owner left a note that reads: "[Annabell’s] an amazing dog... All shots and a sweet heart.  Couldn't afford her... please help."
The dog is now being cared for at Norwalk Animal Control, who say it is illegal to abandon an animal.
Animal Control Officer Richard Duddie says he hasn't seen a case like this in 32 years. He says he doesn't think the dog was abused.
Dog walkers who spoke to News 12 at Cranbury Park Monday say they couldn't believe someone would do this.
Norwalk Animal Control says it has gotten numerous calls to adopt the dog.
They say she'll be up for adoption next week.
