Friends and community members are working to help the family of a man who was fatally shot on the East End of Bridgeport last weekend.
Dathan "DaeDae" Gray, 32, was a beloved member of the community who police say was shot to death early Saturday morning at the intersection of Revere Street and Newfield Avenue.
Corey Williams, 36, is still coming to terms with Gray's sudden death.
"This is someone that everybody knows. If you're from Bridgeport you know DaeDae," says Williams.
Williams helped organize the fundraiser and vigil taking place at Paradise Bar and Grill to help Gray's family pay for his funeral. Williams says Gray was an avid sports fan and proud father who was ripped away from his family amid circumstances that are still shrouded in mystery.
"It's hard to come to terms with it, how do you wrap your head around it, how do you rationalize something like this?" says Williams.
