Newtown police: Missing teen with autism is found

Newtown police say a 17-year-old boy with autism who was reported missing has been found.

Police had said that the boy, named Nicholas, went missing earlier Sunday in the area of Winton Farm Road. They said it was an active scene with police canines, drones, water rescue personnel and firefighters.

Police announced Sunday afternoon that Nicholas had been found safe. They said he was located walking on Hattertown Road by a passing motorist and was covered in mud.

He was being evaluated by ambulance personnel, according to police.

According to police, Nicholas previously went missing and was found in a pond near his home.
