The family of a stabbing victim is trying to come to terms with what happened.
Police say Sheldon Frierson has been charged with murder in the death of Michael Moody, who was stabbed in his apartment on Aug. 8. Family says the alleged killer was Moody's friend growing up.
Around 1 a.m. nearly two weeks ago, police were called to Fairfield Avenue, where they found Moody with multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead at Norwalk Hospital.
Moody's aunt Karen O'Neill describes her nephew as a basketball star who always had a big smile on his face. She says he lit up every room.
O'Neill told News 12 she does plan to set up a fundraiser to give her nephew a proper burial.
"My heart is so heavy, and my shoulders so heavy right now, I'm just trying to get things right so we can have a proper burial for him," says O'Neill.
According to arrest warrants, Moody and Frierson had been hanging out hours before the stabbing.
Police say Frierson had an order of protection issued against him related to the mother of his child, who lives in the complex where the stabbing took place.
Fierson will appear back in Stamford on Sept. 6.
