It's almost time for kids to go back to school, and police are making sure everyone is safe after a group of adults allegedly went up to kids and asked them odd questions.
Fairfield police say the strangers drove up in a black SUV on Greenfield Street around 6:15 p.m. Saturday.
Jaylen Jacobs, 11, says he and his friend were playing basketball with his friend when strangers approached him.
They say the adults asked them strange questions such as "Do you want to go into the woods? How old are you? Where do you live?"
Police say the boys immediately ran inside and told their mother, who called police.
Police say the boys and the mother did everything right by reporting the incident. They say it's important to talk to kids about stranger danger and tell them to walk in groups.
Now, police are continuing to search for the three suspects.
Beverly Maldonado lives in the neighborhood, and she says this is disturbing to hear since she has a 3-year-old grandchild.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Police say they are stepping up police patrol in the area before school starts.
