Workers at Connecticut’s service plazas are planning to file a complaint with the state’s Department of Labor on Thursday – accusing restaurants of paying them too little.

Dozens of fast food workers rallied Wednesday at the Darien service plaza, saying workers are being cheated out of millions of dollars in pay.

The complaint applies to all 23 service plazas in the state. Since the state owns the land, workers say they are supposed to make 30% extra in either salary or benefits. The Service Employees International Union says that's not happening.

"The law is the law, and tomorrow, we will be filing charges at the Connecticut Department of Labor because this is wrong,” says Juan Hernandez, SEIU.

The private company that runs Connecticut service plazas had no comment about the rally or the complaint. Dunkin’ told News 12 that individual franchisees set salaries.

Wednesday’s rally was almost thwarted by the company that runs the service plaza. It asked a judge to stop it, but the judge decided to let it go on as planned.
