Twin sisters in Stamford used the week before heading back to their senior year of high school to collect supplies for victims of Hurricane Dorian.
Alex and Emily Catterson, 17, have been collecting clothes and household essentials at their parents' home in Stamford. All the donations will be shipped to the Bahamas to help victims at the end of the week.
Alex Catterson says a family-friend called her mother and described how he had lost his house and all his belongings.
The mother of the girls told News 12 that they planned this collection drive all on their own.
She says she didn't realize the devastation in the Bahamas was sinking in for her kids, but now she is proud of the work they are doing to try to make a difference.
The twins sprang into action and hung flyers throughout the city. They say they will do as much as they can for their friend and all those impacted.
