The Norwalk police Department is warning the public Thursday after five people died from overdoses in the course of a week. 

Norwalk police wrote on their Facebook page that there had been eight overdoses since August 28, and that five of them resulted in deaths. 

They say Norwalk detectives are investigating the incidents.

Police say they want to remind the public of the dangers of opioid abuse.
