A body was found at West Beach Tuesday night, according to Stamford police.

The Stamford Police Marine Division responded to the area where witnesses say the body of a man was spotted floating in the water around 5 p.m.

Officers were on scene for hours.

West Beach was closed off to boats. A group of men who traveled there on jet skis had to wait more than three hours to pick up a friend who was fishing across the way.

The medical examiner’s officer will be conducting an autopsy, and the identification process is underway.
