Community members and their canines headed to downtown Stamford Sunday for the fourth annual Bark in The Park event.
Over 30 tents were set up at Latham Park for owners to buy dog food, look into microchipping or even to adopt their own furry friend.
Event organizer Kate Cook says people in the community now get excited about the event.
"The community has really embraced it," Cook said. "And all the dog businesses, whether it's a veterinarian or dog groomer. They're all excited to be involved."
One vendor, PitStop, aims to find homes for at risk pit bulls in the area. They brought two rescue dogs looking for a home.
"Both of them were in euthanasia lists for medical reasons," said Amber Kountz. "So one of them had a cyst on their face that we took off and one of them benign lipoma so she was in the shelter for about a month."
Other activities at Sunday's event included a photobooth, splash zone and pie-eating contest. Community members also had the opportunity to interact with therapy dogs through the Hudson Valley Paws of a Cause.
Ivy Grace was one therapy dog, who was hit by a car and is now in a wheelchair.
"She makes an awesome therapy dog," said Bud Chuck. "She seems to know when people need to give her a hug."
All attendees were encouraged to bring an item to help an animal in need.
