Alibaba to stop selling e-cig components in US online stores

The Chinese e-commerce Alibaba will stop selling electronic cigarette components in its U.S. online stores. The e-commerce giant had long banned the sale of the complete e-cigarettes in the states, but the move to stop selling even parts of the devices like empty cartridges and box mods comes amid increased regulatory scrutiny over vaping. Deaths attributed to the vaping illness are reportedly tied to makeshift or illegal vape products, many of which are sold online.

Simon Morris, a major executive at Facebook's Libra Crypto project, has left. Morris, the Libra Association's head of product, was among the few known members set up to run Libra Independent of Facebook or other corporate backers. PayPal earlier pulled its backing of Libra amid increased regulatory scrutiny.

The scientists behind the batteries sitting in your smartphone have won the Noble Prize in chemistry. American John Goodenough, Stanley Whittingham of Great Britain and Akira Yoshino of Japan will all share the honor and split the $906,000 award. The scientists developed the first functional lithium battery in the early 1970s, doubled its potential capacity and then made it safer to use.
