Heavy rain, flooding possible through early Thursday

Posted: Updated:

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are rolling through western Connecticut, and will last for at least the remainder of the day.

Between 1 to 3 inches of rainfall are possible Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday morning, with the heaviest of the rain falling until 12 a.m., News 12 meteorologists say.

The rain is expected to taper off around 3 a.m. Thursday. Localized flooding is possible, along with some minor coastal flooding.

Roads also have the potential of being affected by flooding if the heaviest rain coincides with Wednesday night's high tides.

Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are possible.
