A Berkeley Township bus driver was arrested Thursday for being under the influence while on the job, police say.
Anthony Rodriguez, 64 of South Toms River, has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, DWI in a School Zone and Reckless Driving.
Police say they were alerted by school staff of a bus driver, who was at the Clara B. Worth Elementary School, acting erratically. Following an investigation by staff, the bus was taken off route and several children were transferred to another bus.
Police then responded, and upon arrival, they say the bus driver was under the influence of alcohol or an intoxicating substance, and was arrested.
A blood sample to determine the bus driver's blood alcohol content is currently pending.
