Residents in Trumbull came together Friday to remember the life of beloved local coach and businessman, Sebastian Gangemi.
Gangemi coached the Trumbull Boys Varsity Soccer team for 20 years. He was known as Coach "Sebe".
Gangemi lost his year-long battle with Leukemia last May. Donations have poured in to help build a memorial unveiled by his family at the field he loved.
Many of those who knew him participated in a candlelight vigil at Trumbull High School Friday night to remember the man whose legacy lives on in all those he coached.
"His motto in this game was always to fight for every ball and we take that onto the field for sure," said one of his players, "but we also take it off the field. We put effort into everything."
"He really just loved the boys," said Gangemi's wife, Becky. "He really enjoyed teaching them, coaching them, and he was a part of their lives even after they were off the team, which was very special."
