Police make 19 arrests in wake of shootings in Brick

Brick Township police have arrested 19 people over three days as part of increased law enforcement in response to two recent shootings.
The arrests, which took place between last Wednesday and Saturday, centered in areas known for illegal activity and mainly targeted drug offenses. The drugs included crack cocaine, heroin, Ecstasy and marijuana.
Police Chief James Riccio said in a statement Monday the community was shaken by "senseless acts of violence" which occurred last week.
A drive-by shooting last weekend wounded a 17-year-old, and a 16-year-old was wounded near Brick Memorial High School last week.
