Grandmother struck by car in hit-and-run

A disabled grandmother was struck by a car while crossing the street on Friday night in a hit-and-run.
Irma Cosme was hit when she was crossing Beechmont Avenue around 7:30 p.m and the driving kept going.
Cosme said she was on her way home from buying groceries at a bodega when a late-model black sedan hit her.
Police say good Samaritan Maria Eiken at Edip Variety & Deli pulled Cosme out of the street to keep her from getting hit by a second car.
Cosme was taken to the hospital. She suffered a concussion, as well as injuries to her leg, foot and knee.
Police Chief AJ Perez met with Cosme on Thursday and told her investigators are looking at surveillance video and hope soon to have a lead on the driver's identity.
Police are looking for help in identifying the driver of the car. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call their tip line at 203-576-TIPS.
