Authorities in Bergen County say a man is charged with reckless manslaughter in connection to the death of a 19-year-old girl who was found unresponsive in a car at a Hackensack parking garage.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office says Michael Gaffney, of Maywood, was arrested following an investigation.
Hackensack police received a 911 call shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday about an unresponsive female in a vehicle at 140 Prospect St.
They say the teen, identified as Francis Victoria Garcia, was pronounced dead at Hackensack University Medical Center.
Authorities say an investigation revealed that Garcia had been in the rear seat of her vehicle with Gaffney at the time of her death. They say an autopsy determined that she died of compression injuries to her neck.
Gaffney was arrested and charged with one count of reckless manslaughter.
Further details on the alleged circumstances that led to Garcia's death were not released by authorities.
