A fundraiser kicked off in Bridgeport for a disabled mom with two special-needs children.

Their full-time caregiver Donna Smith says the family's benefits were cut earlier this year. They do not have enough money for the basics.

Mayor Joe Ganim says his office is trying to increase their benefits, but in the meantime, he's encouraging the public to help the family.

The fundraiser was organized by the Faces of Beauty Modeling Team. It builds awareness for caregivers of disabled family members.
