Diner Day raises dollars for Domus Kids in Stamford

Posted: Updated:

Meals came with a side of charity at Parkway Diner Wednesday.

Employees with PwC, Synchrony Financial and Nestle Waters traded in their day jobs to earn tips. The money collected is being donated to Domus Kids, a Stamford nonprofit.

"Domus is an organization that's really entrenched in the community," said Tom Goggin, an employee with Synchrony. "They work with some of the most unprivileged, under-resourced kids in Stamford and really help them around college, career building, and getting ahead."

The annual event at Parkway Diner is now in its 20th year with more than $2 million being raised since the start.

"It's my sixth year doing this," said Beto Casellas, a Synchrony employee and Domus Kids board member. "It gets better every year. More engagement from the employees."

For some volunteers, Wednesday was the first time they tried their hand at working in the food industry. For others, it meant recalling skills from their teenage years.

About 60 employees took turns working different shifts.
