Local veterans were honored Sunday in the third annual Field of Flags ceremony in Norwalk.
The ceremony aims to recognize and honor those who have served the country.
It began with the Honor Guard procession of the Knights of Columbus leading veterans, their families and local leaders.
"This is a moment in our history where we have to say thank you and as we say never forget, so we have to come together as a nation and honor those who have served," said state Sen. Bob Duff.
Each of the flags has been purchased and dedicated to a veteran. The proceeds for this event goes to two charities, the Prevention of Child Abuse in Fairfield County and Veterans Matter, a program that helps homeless veterans find housing.
