Nassau County police are warning residents of a new phone scam - where actual police phone numbers will appear on your caller ID.
Police officials say you should be vigilant if you get phone calls from people who identify themselves as department officers or employees.
They say if the person requests payment via wire transfer or prepaid credit card, you should hang up and call 911.
